Heart of Texas Unemployment Rate Edges Down in April
WACO, Texas — The Heart of Texas regional unemployment rate held relatively steady in April 2026 at 3.7%, according to the latest data from TexasLMI.com. The rate reflects a slight improvement from 3.8% recorded in March.
Across the region, 6,801 individuals were actively seeking employment during the month, while 961 continued unemployment claims were filed.
The regional labor market also saw continued job growth, reaching 142,600 total jobs in April — an increase of 300 positions over the month.
Unemployment rate by county:
- Bosque County: 3.7%
- Falls County: 3.7%
- Freestone County: 4.4%
- Hill County: 4.0%
- Limestone County: 3.9%
- McLennan County: 3.8%
The Heart of Texas unemployment rate remained below both the statewide rate and national rate of 4.0%, respectively.
