When you visit one of our Workforce Solutions Centers, our Career Specialists will help you learn about various occupations available in the Heart of Texas region that fit with your unique career preferences, skills, interests and values. We provide current Labor Market Information to give you the opportunity to research in-demand occupations, pay scales, hot jobs, career options, required education and training/skills levels, working conditions, future demand of occupations and more.
Resume Building & Career Guidance
Knowledgeable staff are available to assist you in the creation or modification of your resume, cover letters, or other job search related documentation. You can also request assistance in posting your resume online at WorkInTexas.com for employers to review.
Our Resource Rooms provide the access, tools, resources and assistance you need to find a job or make a career change:
- Research and plan a successful job search.
- Free access to computers, printers and faxes.
- Free access to assessments of and assistance with resume and cover letter writing.
- Typing tests and Microsoft Office and computer skills certificates.
Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend scheduling an appointment if you need one-on-one assitance from one of our Career Specialists. Job Search, Match & Referrals through WorkInTexas.com
Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas partners with the Texas Workforce Commission to offer a variety of free job search and application services through WorkinTexas.com, the state’s largest and most trusted online job-matching system. Once you register for WorkInTexas, our Career Specialists can show you how to get the most out of WorkInTexas, including creating a high-quality profile, achieving more accurate results in your job matches, customizing and saving your searches and much more. We will also use your WorkInTexas profile to help match and refer you to jobs that meet your criteria.
Job Fairs & Hiring Events
Workforce Solutions sponsors Job Fairs throughout the year providing individuals in our service area with multiple opportunities to meet and speak with business representatives from a variety of industries about available jobs. We also work directly with individual businesses to host customized Hiring Events where the employer offers on-the-spot interviews to interested candidates. A children’s playroom is available for children ages 2-10 years old at the McLennan County Workforce Solutions Center. While parents are busy participating in training, job search activities, or other meetings, their children are welcome to use the playroom for up to two hours. Access and Referrals to Workforce Programs
Our career staff can inform and refer you to the other services available at the Workforce Center such as child care services, adult education literacy, business resource center, veteran services, youth services, financial assistance and guidance, employment and training programs, employment program for individuals over 55, and the CHOICES and SNAP programs, as well as services from Texas Workforce Commission.
