Registering for WorkInTexas.com is your first step to finding employment and receiving individualized employment assistance and services from our Workforce Solutions staff.

Only registered users can create résumés, apply for jobs and access other helpful WorkinTexas.com features. Registration allows users to securely save personal information, settings, and preferences, eliminating the need to conduct repeated searches for the same information and saving you time and effort in the future.

Once registered, you’ll have access to:

  • A personal file folder that contains information on saved searches, system settings, and other information,
  • Career assessment tools, including skills matching, that help match a person’s qualifications and abilities to specific occupations,
  • A home page with customized news content,
  • Creation of résumés and cover letters, and
  • Automated job searches that deliver job opportunities to your system message box, an e-mail address you provide, or both.

In addition, our Workforce Solutions Career Specialists will be able to access your profile to help you with any individualized servcies you may need or request.

Before You Register

Before registering, make sure you have the time and information you need to complete your profile. The registration process could take you between 20 and 90 minutes to complete depending on the amount of information you have to input and whether you choose to upload or create a resume.

We understand this sounds like a large time commitment, but completing your profile as soon as you register will allow you to instantly begin your customized job searches and save you time in the future!

We are providing a general overview here to help you prepare for registration and to know what to expect before beginning the process. If you need help with registering or completing your profile, you may also visit one of our Workforce Solutions Centers for in-person assistance.

Here’s the required information you’ll need to complete the basic registration portion:

  • Social Security Number
  • Unemployment Insurance Benefits claim Personal Identification Number (PIN) (if you applied for Unemployment Benefits, you can enter the 4-digit PIN you created during that process)
  • Residential Address (you have the option to select that you are homeless or do not have a permanent residence but will need to enter the address of a relative or shelter)
  • Mailing Address (you may provide the address of a relative, shelter or somewhere you can receive correspondance if you are homeless or do not have a permanent residence)
  • Email address if you would like to receive communication and notifications via email–it is not required; you can receive notifications in your WIT account but can only see them when you log in (you will have the option to create a free email account at that time or you can create it beforehand)
  • Primary Phone Number
  • Demographic Information required includes: date of birth, if you’re authorized to work in the US, if you’re currently looking for work, citizenship status, if you have a valid driver’s license (if yes, you will have to input driver’s license number)
  • Creation of login information (username, password and 3 security questions)

At this point in the process, you’ll be given the option to proceed to the background information and resume sections or to “return and complete later.” If you have the time and information you need, we recommend you proceed to the next section to expedite your access to customized job searches! You will be able to save your work and exit at any time during this section.

Here’s the information you’ll need to complete the background section, which is 7 pages of questions related to:

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Highest postsecondary level of education obtained, if any
  • Current school status (will help identify services you may need or be eligible for)
  • Questions for the spouse or dependent of a veteran
  • If you’re a veteran, several questions about your status are next including if you will retire in 24 months or discharge in 12 months, Title 10 Activation and if you have attended a Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Workshop within the last 3 years
  • Current employment status (additional information will be needed if you select unemployed including your last date of employment, if your last date of employment was due to layoff, military separation or natural disaster, or if you received re-employment services information from Workforce Solutions in a group session (Rapid Response services) before or after your employment separation)
  • Farmworker questions that will determine migrant status and possible programs and services you may be eligible for
  • Demographic questions about your race and disabilities, if any (if you self-identify as having a disability, additional questions will display to help identify services you may need or be eligible for)
  • Factors that may impact employment questions including your primary language, reading and math skills, current participation in adult education and literacy services, and whether you’re single or under the age of 18 and pregnant or have children (none of this information is shared with prospective employers–it is only used to assist our staff in getting you the assistance and services you need)
  • Support services questions regarding any public assistance services you may have received or been eligible to receive (ex: TANF, SNAP, etc) in the last 6 months (none of this information is shared with prospective employers–it is only used to assist our staff in getting you the assistance and services you need)

Click the Finish button to complete your full registration after you answer all questions. Once complete, you will be prompted to either upload a resume or create one in the WorkInTexas Resume Builder. You may also exit the system at this time.
