Regional Unemployment Rate Rises to 3.9% in June
Waco, Texas — The unemployment rate in the Heart of Texas region increased slightly to 3.9% in June, up from 3.8% in May. A total of 7,185 residents were unemployed, and 987 continued unemployment claims were filed during the month.
No new jobs were added in the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), with total employment holding steady at 144,700 jobs.
Unemployment rate by county:
- Bosque County: 3.8%
- Falls County: 4.0%
- Freestone County: 4.5%
- Hill County: 3.6%
- Limestone County: 4.3%
- McLennan County: 3.9%
Despite the uptick, the regional unemployment rate remains lower than both the Texas rate of 4.1% and the national rate of 4.4%.
