Youth Services

Workforce Solutions offers young people in-school and out-of-school, aged 16-24, a wealth of opportunities to get their future started on the right foot through our Youth Services program.  In addition, foster youth receive priority of service.

We can help:

Youth who are currently in high school

Youth who have completed high school or completed a High School Equivalency (G.E.D)

Youth who have dropped out of high school

Youth who are in college

Youth Services can include:

Academic assistance that provides tutoring help and assistance finding teachers and mentors to get you through school

GED preparation to help youth prepare for and pass HSE/GED exam

Career exploration to help youth learn about various occupations available in the Heart of Texas region that fit with your unique career preferences, skills, interests, values and lead to a good paying job. Learn more about high-skill, high-growth jobs.

Assistance in navigating the registration process for entry into post-secondary education, and job placement opportunities

Career Assessment

Not quite sure what careers interest you? Want to see how much money it takes to live these days? Get a reality check. It’s a lot more expensive than you think. Be prepared, and plan ahead!

Job Corps

Job Corps is a free education and training program that helps young people learn a career, earn a high school diploma or GED, and find or keep a good job. For eligible young people ages 16 through 24 that qualify as low income, Job Corps provides the all-around skills needed to succeed in a career and in life. Workforce Solutions Training Grants support training for some of the region’s high-skill, high-growth occupations. If you’re interested in one of these careers, we may be able to contribute to a financial aid package.

Individuals must meet eligibility requirements to qualify for a training grant. Eligibility requirements may vary based on program and funding sources. Learn more here.

Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas provides additional assistance and services to support youth in meeting their educational and/or career goals.

All events, including virtual workshops, orientations, tax preparation and other in-person appointments, have been canceled.
