Heart of Texas region unemployment rate sees slight increase in May

Waco, Texas ⎯ The unemployment rate for the Heart of Texas region rose by 0.2% from April to May. The current rate stands at 3.8%, with 6,852 residents unemployed and 873 continuing unemployment claims. The region saw a gain of 600 new jobs.

Bosque and McLennan County recorded the lowest unemployment rate (3.7%), followed by Hill (3.9%), Falls (4.2%), Limestone (4.8%), and Freestone (5.8%). The 3.6% unemployment rate for the region was below Texas’ (4.1%), and above the national rate (3.4%).
