Unemployment rate in the Heart of Texas decreases in March

The unemployment rate in the Heart of Texas six-county region dropped to 3.8% in March, a 0.4% decrease from February. This rate represents 6,871 unemployed residents. Additionally, the Waco Metropolitan Area experienced a gain of 100 jobs in March.

Freestone County reported the highest unemployment rate at 4.9%, followed by Limestone (4.1%), Falls (4.1%), Hill (4.0%), and McLennan (3.6%). Bosque County reported the lowest unemployment rate at 3.5%. The region’s unemployment rate is below both the state (4.1%) and national rate (3.9%).
