Marginal Rise in Unemployment Rate Recorded in Heart of Texas Region during June

Waco, Texas ⎯The Heart of Texas region experienced a marginal rise in its unemployment rate (.3% from May) during the month of June, as reported by TexasLMI.com. Currently standing at 4.1%, this rate represents 7,286 unemployed residents, with 1,189 continued unemployment claims. No new job additions were recorded for the month of June.

Bosque recorded the lowest unemployment rate (3.5%) for our region, followed by McLennan (4.0%), Hill (4.0%), Falls (4.2%), and Limestone (4.8%). Freestone County recorded the highest rate at 5.7%. The Heart of Texas unemployment rate is below the state’s (4.2%) and above the national unemployment rate (3.8%).
