Heart of Texas unemployment rate rises to 4.1 percent

Waco, Texas ⎯ The unemployment rate for the Heart of Texas region rose to 4.1% in June, according to TexasLMI.com, an increase from the region’s May rate of 3.5%, with unemployment claims climbing to 805. The region saw 1,600 new jobs added, the largest over-the-month job increase in 2022.
The 4.1% unemployment rate for June was comprised of 7,159 unemployed residents in our region. The Heart of Texas unemployment rate is below the state’s (4.4%) and above national unemployment (3.8%).

The entire six-county region saw an increase in unemployment rates. McLennan and Bosque counties recorded the lowest rate at 3.9%, followed by Hill (4.2%), Falls (4.4%), and Limestone (5.1%). Freestone County continues to remain the highest at 6.3%.
