Heart of Texas region sees slight decrease in unemployment

Waco, Texas ⎯ The unemployment rate for the Heart of Texas region saw a slight decrease (.1% from June) for the month of July, according to TexasLMI.com. At 4.0%, this rate is comprised of 7,012 unemployed residents, with 859 continuing unemployment claims.  New jobs for the region remained steady, with a total of 130,900 jobs.

In our region, McLennan and Bosque counties recorded the lowest unemployment rate at 3.9%, followed by Hill (4.0%), Falls (4.4%), and Limestone (4.8%). Freestone County continues to remain the highest at 5.9%. The Heart of Texas unemployment rate is below the state’s (4.3%) and above national unemployment rate (3.8%).
