Heart of Texas region unemployment rate sees moderate increase in January

WACO, Texas – The unemployment rate for the Heart of Texas region saw a moderate increase (.7% from December) for the month of January, according to TexasLMI.com. At 3.8%, this rate is comprised of 6,932 unemployed residents, with 1,002 continuing unemployment claims. The Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) experienced a decrease of 1,700 jobs.

Freestone County continues to have the highest reported unemployment rate at 5.0%, followed by Limestone (4.2%), Falls (4.1%), Hill (4.0%), and McLennan (3.7%). Bosque County reported the lowest unemployment rate at 3.6%. The Heart of Texas unemployment rate is below both the state and national unemployment rate (4.1%).
