Heart of Texas Targeted Occupations

The Heart of Texas Targeted Occupations are occupations that support local, growing industries and meet the following criteria:

  • Meets Board policy for training cost and duration(up to 2 years post secondary training)
  • At least one college or other training provider within commuting distance of the area exists
  • Leads to an entry wage of at least $8.95 per hour  (that is monthly wages for full time employment of $1550/mo or better)
  • Provides for career progression opportunities
  • Training in the occupation leads to a high likelihood of placement in a job in the area upon completion

Anyone interested in determining if they are eligible for a scholarship under the Workforce Investment Act for training in one of these occupations should go to the nearest Workforce Solutions Center for more information.
