In the Spotlight

Heather is a student at Groesbeck High School. Heather’s Career Coach, Mark Martinez, says, “Heather is an absolute standout when it comes to drive, motivation, and sacrifice.” Heather completed her CNA license last summer as part of WIA Youth Summer Program at MCC, traveling to Waco each day from Groesbeck to attend the class. She is now employed as a CNA at the Groesbeck Hospital. Heather only lacks the math portion of the TAKS test to be eligible to receive her high school diploma. She has been attending tutoring offered at the Alternative School for the last two months. Heather’s Career Coach says, “Heather not only works full-time, but she works the graveyard shift at the hospital. She leaves work and goes straight to school to attend her TAKS remedial math course.” Heather shared with Mr. Martinez that she works hard because she has a goal and a detailed plan of how she will achieve it. Mr. Martinez says, “This student is the most goal-oriented participant I have had the honor of meeting.”
