ChildOne Early Childhood Recognition Banquet Promises To Be A Great Event

Now in it’s second year, the ChildOne Early Childhood Banquet provides local child care providers, employers, and community members an opportunity to recognize local Texas Rising Star childcare providers, gain valuable insight from speakers, and discuss the many valuable resources available to those in the childcare industry. This year is no exception, with Susan Gunnewig as the keynote speaker. Susan is currently the Director of Product Development at Hatch, Inc., and has spent her entire career working with young children in one capacity or another. Additional speakers include Misty Gipson of Aunt Rosie’s Day Care, and Joe Nesbitt, who will be sharing information about the new ChildOne Adopt-A-Center Initiative. Judge Cole Word will emcee the event.

Workforce Solutions and Partners Host Bosque County Job Fair

Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas, the Meridian and Clifton Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development Councils partnered to host the inaugural Bosque County Employers Breakfast and Job Fair on March 30 at the Bosque Arts Center in Clifton.

The event began with presentations from both the Texas Workforce Commission and Hill College informing employers of the opportunities to take advantage of training grants available to small business to help current or new employees enhance their skills. “We heard from many of the small businesses in Texas that they need specific training for their employees and the Skills Development Fund for Small Businesses can help them to get the training their employees need,” said Apurva Naik with TWC’s Business Services.

Targeting jobseekers in the Bosque County area, more than 20 employers, colleges and service providers participated and exhibited their open job postings and services. Jobseekers interacted with many employers, and a few of those employers were able to hire qualified applicants on the spot. Clarence Fields, President of Goodall Witcher Hospital, was able to instantly fill a position. “We’ve got an employee leaving and I came over here [to the job fair] and found someone that fits the bill.”

“We are very pleased with the turnout and the participation by everyone involved,” said Rene Clayton with Workforce Solutions. “We consider the Bosque County Job Fair a success for the partners, employers and jobseekers in the county.”
