Frequently Asked Questions (continued)

Question: In terms of income guidelines, do you evaluate what we bring home or do you take the money we pay out for rent, and car payment, etc. into consideration?
Answer: CCS makes their assessment based on how many people are in your household and your gross monthly income (which is before taxes). We do not deduct for rent or car payments.

Question: Do you count SSI and child support as income?
Answer: Yes

Question: I have a school-aged child in the household but I do not need care for that child. Do I still need to open a child support case, turn in their social security card, and complete their school attendance information?
Answer: Yes

Question: What if I can’t find my social security cards? Can I just provide you my social security number?
Answer: No, you need to go to the social security office and apply for the social security cards again. We will accept the receipt that they give you until you get the actual card.

Question: What should I do if I can’t find my check stubs?
Answer: For the wait list, we will accept the wage form as long as we can verify employment. Before child care can begin, we must receive a print out from your employer.
